To support a more inclusive journey, Perth Airport has introduced a Sensory Room, offering a tranquil environment designed to reduce stress and provide a moment of calm before a flight.

About the Sensory Room

Located within Terminal 1 International, past the security checkpoint, the Sensory Room is exclusively available to departing passengers and offers:

  • Reduced noise levels and soft lighting for a calming atmosphere.
  • Seating nooks for small travelling groups.
  • Two private areas for those who require additional space.
  • Sensory-seeking accessories to support regulation and comfort.
  • Device charging stations for convenience.
  • Small cubby spaces to retreat and unwind.
  • Soft furnishings and colour treatments to create a soothing environment.
  • Flight information display screen to stay updated without disruption.

Who Can Use the Sensory Room?

The room is designed for neurodivergent passengers of all ages who may need a quiet space to decompress before their journey. We encourage short visits to ensure access for others who need it.

  • Do I need to book to access the room?
    Yes, bookings are essential. Access cannot be provided without a confirmed booking.
  • How do I book?
    You can book via our online platform, however we ask that you review the following information first. After booking and agreeing to the terms and conditions of use, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing your booking reference and a PIN code to unlock the room at your selected time. You will need to enter your code at the entry to gain access.
  • What is the duration and cost of my booking?
    All bookings are for one hour maximum and are free of charge.
  • What happens if my preferred time is unavailable?
    The room has a strict capacity limit. If your preferred date and time isn't available, it means the room is already fully booked at that time. We apologise for any inconvenience and recommend booking early to secure your spot.
  • How many people can use the room at once?
    Your booking allows for a maximum of 6 people in your travel group. If you have multiple families travelling together, you will need to book for each family, remembering that there is a strict capacity limit. Please be mindful of others and keep your visit to your allocated time so everyone has the opportunity to access the space.
  • What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
    You can self-manage any changes or cancellations using the link provided in your confirmation email.

Conditions of Use

  • Respect for others – Maintain a quiet and calm environment.
  • Capacity limit – Maximum of 6 people per booking.
  • Short visits – This space is for decompression before travel.
  • No alcohol – Please keep the space family-friendly.
  • Flight responsibility – There are flight information screens within the room to monitor your boarding time, however there are no audible flight announcements in this room.
  • Supervision required – Minors must be accompanied at all times.
  • Cleanliness – Please keep the room clean by using the provided bins. This room does not have a nappy disposal; please use the parents' room located nearby for this purpose.
  • Safety – If you experience an emergency, alert airport staff. CCTV is in operation for your security.
