Social Stories™ for Travel at Perth Airport

Perth Airport together with The Autism Association of Western Australia has developed a Social Story™ for Travel at Perth Airport.

What is a Social Story™?

Social Stories™ are a social learning tool that supports the safe and meaningful exchange of information between parents, professionals, and people with autism of all ages.

Social Stories™ are a respected evidence-based practice that is employed most frequently with individuals diagnosed with social communication disorders or other disabilities, as well as typically developing children.

You can view our Terminal 1 International Departures Social Story™ here

Please note:

  • The story – ‘Terminal 1 International Departures’ is specifically for the international departures journey from T1.
  • This story is a support tool designed to familiarise the experience of travel through Perth Airport.
  • It is suitable for young children, although may also be a valuable tool for a broad audience.
  • It is a typical journey map and is not suitable for those travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor.

As we continue to develop other Social Stories™ in due time to add to our resource library (i.e Domestic journey), we invite you to provide any feedback on these stories or from your experiences at Perth Airport. Please contact us at [email protected].
