Airside Driving
Perth Airport has established clear systems and procedures to ensure the safe operation of vehicles in airside areas. These procedures are documented and apply to all personnel operating vehicles in these zones. As part of this process, we collect and use personal information. You can view our privacy policy here.
Procedures
The Airside Vehicle Control Handbook (AVCH) outlines the procedures for operating vehicles airside, including processes for applying for an Authority to Drive Airside (ADA), Authority to Use Airside (AUA), and driving rules & infringements. All vehicle operators must read and understand this handbook.
The Airside Safety and Driving Airport Operating Standard has been developed for those operating airside to provide guidance about the airside environment, ensure awareness of potential hazards and associated safety measures. This standard supports the Airside Vehicle Control Handbook.
Airside Maps are available to show driving categories and layouts across all airside areas and aprons.
New ADA applicants are required to complete a training checklist and minimum log of hours, as follows:
- ADA Category 2 - Practical Training and Logbook
- ADA Category 2 - Instructor Guide
- ADA Category 3 - Practical Training and Logbook
- ADA Category 4 - Practical Training and Logbook
Systems
All aspects of company, vehicle, and driver licensing are managed through AIRDAT, a web-based platform. AIRDAT includes:
- AIRDAT Passport – for managing individual ADA training, assessments, and infringements.
- AIRDAT Onboard – for companies managing vehicle and fleet permits, and Airside Operating Licences (AOL).

Authority to Drive Airside (ADA)
Information for all ADA holders
AIRDAT Passport has been in use since 2018 to manage Authority to Drive Airside (ADA) and has now replaced Flightpath for all training programs except those exclusive to PAPL.
Current and future ADA holders can log in to view their ADA records, any associated airside driving infringements (points), and bookings for ADA testing, whether made by themselves or their company administrator.
Both individual users and company administrators can make bookings in AIRDAT Passport. However, company administrators have additional permissions, including the ability to view staff within their own company, access their training enrolments, qualifications, and infringements, as well as create accounts on behalf of employees.
Before registering a new account, please check whether one already exists by contacting your company administrator or checking with AIRDAT Support.
Before starting your ADA training, ensure you meet all requirements listed in the Airside Vehicle Control Handbook (AVCH).
Information about AIRDAT Passport, including how to register, log in, become a company administrator, and access further support, can be found at:

- Photos showing the front, rear, and both sides of the vehicle
Vehicles must be marked with the company logo and fitted with the required equipment for their area of operation, in accordance with the Airside Vehicle Control Handbook.
AUA permits are reviewed in accordance with the AVCH timeframe and made available for collection from the Airport Services Office (ASO) not later than seven days from the application submission. No appointment is required to collect the AUA from the ASO.
