Bali's Best Beach Bars

For most West Aussies, visiting Bali is a rite of passage. It's been a long, long wait but the borders are now open again and we can finally (re)visit our beloved Indonesian neighbour.

We can't wait to escape this Autumnal weather and right now there's nothing more appealing than kicking back on the beach with a cocktail, overlooking the sunset.

Here is a list, in no particular order, of some of our favourite Bali beach bars which are open and ready to welcome you!

Finns – Seminyak

A Bali icon – Finns has it all. Swim up bars, restaurants, two pools, DJs, live music, and even a sushi bar, you could not ask for a better party location. Whichever section you plant yourself in, the design of this building was to guarantee every guest a sunset view.

This self-proclaimed (and perhaps rightly so) 'World's best beach club' is a guaranteed day of fun. Check their website for upcoming pool parties and events, or head in to snag a sun bed and the only thing you'll have to worry about is topping up the sunscreen – because you're going to want to stay a while.

Le Pirate – Nusa Ceningan

There are only tropical vibes at Le Pirate - Nusa Ceningan. A short Ferry ride away from the main Bali Island lies Nusa Lembongan and from there, make your way to Nusa Ceningan.

Le Pirate is a hotel restaurant with whitewashed beach huts and incredible cocktails. Come for the day and eat, drink and swim in the pool or stay the night in your very own 'beach box'.

La Plancha – Seminyak

Get a taste of Spain at this vibrant beach shack. La Plancha will delight the senses with its bright colours, Spanish-Balinese fusion flavours, and Moroccan-inspired styling where the jungle clashes with the ocean.
Choose your poison, from the traditional Bintang to sparkling Chardonnay or pick from a long list of cocktails (but make it colourful).

Ku De Ta – Seminyak

Ku De Ta Perth may have closed but its big brother in Seminyak is very much alive.

Ku De Ta is an ultra-modern beach front bar and welcomes walk-ins or hosts full scale functions. Choose from breakfast lunch or dinner…and snacks… and a night club, Ku De Ta has stayed at the top of its game in all areas.

The infinity pool will always beckon, but for one of the best fine dining degustation kitchens, Mejekawi is an exceptional culinary experience and a has the view to match.

Ulu Cliff House – Uluwatu

More clifftop than beach front, the location is as exciting as the bar itself. You can stay at this gorgeous residence or visit for a sunset beverage or two. The nightlife hosted here is some of the best on the island with top DJs playing most weekends.

Enjoy cocktails and seafood nibbles, and not that you'll tire from the view, but the in-house art gallery tops off this very cool hangout space.

Minoo Beach Club - Ungasan

The perfect way to kickstart your evening, this laidback beach bar is open from 12-8pm. Chill out listening to a resident DJ and order a cocktail in a coconut to sip while you laze in the pool watching the sunset over the ocean.

The boat-shaped bar floating on top of the pool is a fun quirk, but the massive cliff display as the backdrop is the icing on the cake.

Potato Head - Seminyak

Perhaps the original modern luxury beach club of Bali, and certainly the most famous, is Potato Head. This place is architecturally pleasing, with guaranteed fun all day and night, epic sunsets from the infinity pool, and just all round a good vibe.

Get here early to snag a daybed, as this place always draws a crowd. Book in advance to guarantee a reservation at any of the five restaurants, each offering a unique dining experience with a mix of traditional and modern Balinese cooking. Make sure to give yourself time to experience all this creative hub has to offer in terms of art and music.

Potato Head gets a bonus point for being eco-friendly. It operates a 98% zero waste initiative so you can enjoy your food and drinks with a clear conscience. Definitely grounds for one more then!

Azul Beach Club - Legian

The first Balinese tiki bar is a bamboo fortress where memories are made...and sometimes forgotten. This three-storey treehouse has comfy furnishings, unique craft cocktails served in weird and wonderful glasses, and ocean views… all you need is someone to fan you with a palm leaf and you might just stay forever.

This western food menu covers all the classics to enjoy lunch by the pool from 12-5pm every day *palm leaf fanning not included*.

La Brisa – Canggu

This shabby-chic beach club is exactly where you want to head to turn up your Instagram game. Laid-back tropical vibes with ramshackle cool and an inviting view makes this the exact spot you want to hang out and watch the sunset.

Take a deep breath and exhale as you watch the ocean from your deck chair. Come in the evening when the DJ ramps up so you can dance the night away under the swaying palm trees. Alternatively, pop by on Sunday to support local businesses and get your shopping done at their Farmers Day event.

Como Beach Club – Canggu

Last but not least, it's this surf shack with the ultimate glow up. This high-class wellness retreat offers so much more than just a great beach bar. Why not try out yoga or pilates, go for a surf or try a new water sport before rewarding yourself with some tasty (healthy) snacks and a cold drink? Or, if you just want to relax, treat yourself to a massage or beauty treatment and then kick back for evening by the pool and look out at the glistening ocean beyond.
