Why you should take some cash

Accepted (almost) everywhere!

Cash is a global form of currency, and - depending on the type of currency - is accepted by almost everyone abroad as a form of payment. Certain overseas businesses may not have card facilities or accept certain types of cards, making cash the preferred form of payment; particularly for things like local markets, tipping and more remote locations.

Stopovers & cash-based societies

If you've got a stopover during a long haul flight, it's handy to have some cash in the local currency if you need to purchase anything from the airport. In addition, in certain countries such as Japan, cash is still king with many businesses not accepting cards.

No additional fees*

Once you've purchased your cash currency, you don't have to worry about any additional fees, making it a cost-effective way to exchange your Australian dollars.

7. The currencies available in respect of Travelex Money Card may vary from time to time and not all currencies may be available at all times. Australian dollars are not available for load or reload onto a Travelex Money Card online. Load or reload up to 10 currencies in store or up to 9 currencies online. Before you make a decision to acquire the Card, please check the available currencies online or by asking in store.

**Lock in your exchange rates means the exchange rate is locked in for the initial load only. The exchange rate for subsequent reloads will be set at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
