26 June, 2025

Virgin Australia in partnership with Qatar Airways has launched its inaugural service between Perth and Doha.

Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said the service marks Virgin Australia’s return to international long-haul flying from Perth and will connect passengers to more than 170 global destinations across Qatar Airways’ global network.

“The introduction of any new international service to Perth benefits the tourism, business, international education, and fresh produce export sectors.

“The additional daily service between Perth and Doha provides an increase of 40 per cent on the current seat capacity between Perth and Doha, resulting in more than 500,000 seats being available annually.

“The additional service gives passengers more flexibility and options via access to Qatar Airways’ global network of more than 170 business and leisure destinations globally including the UK and Europe.

“Western Australians will have more choices when travelling abroad and the increased capacity will provide additional opportunities for visitors to experience all that our fantastic tourism and hospitality sectors have to offer.

“We have worked with the State Government to improve connectivity to key markets across Europe, and we look forward to working with Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia to grow this route and ensure increased inbound visitation into Western Australia.”
