18 June, 2025
Cathay Pacific has celebrated 55 years of operating at Perth Airport by announcing an increase to the number of flights it operates into Perth, Western Australia.
From October, Cathay Pacific will operate double daily services between Perth and Hong Kong – an increase of three additional flights per week, bringing capacity to 40 per cent above pre-Covid levels in 2019.
Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said that the additional flights are a testament to Cathay Pacific’s commitment to Western Australia as it celebrates 55 years of operating at Perth Airport.
“Our long-standing partnership with Cathay Pacific has connected Western Australia to Hong Kong and beyond for decades.
“Cathay Pacific plays a crucial role in supporting business travel, as well as making it easier for tourists and international students to come to WA. The airline also plays an important role in connecting to the Chinese Mainland, Japan, Europe and North America.
“The increased number of services results in more than 200,000 seats being available each way on the route per year.
“It also provides local exporters with crucial cargo capacity between Perth, Hong Kong, North Asia and globally.”
Cathay Pacific operates the Perth – Hong Kong route with an A350-900 aircraft.
Cathay Regional General Manager Southwest Pacific, Frosti Lau said he is pleased to see increased flights to Perth, a city that plays a vital role in Cathay Pacific’s network.
“We’ve proudly served Western Australia for decades, and this increase reflects our strong commitment to the region and to providing more choice and convenience for our customers travelling between Perth, Hong Kong and the rest of Cathay Pacific’s expanding network.
“This comes at a time when we are celebrating reaching 100 destinations globally as an airline Group, marking a major milestone in our growth and commitment to connecting people and places around the world. Achieving this reflects not only our dedication to expanding our network but also our focus on delivering greater opportunities for travel and trade for our customers.”
