Travelling over Christmas? Here are some tips to help get you on your way

16 December, 2024
Perth Airport is expecting 2.33 million passengers to travel through its terminals over the busy holiday period.

Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said that planning your journey and being patient with staff is the best way to start your holiday travel.

“This is an incredibly busy time for the airport so we’re asking travellers to be patient and be assured that our aim is to get you to your boarding gate as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

“Customers may see some congestion within our pick-up and drop-off areas, so we are urging passengers to plan their journey ahead of time.

“This may mean looking at the many options to get to and from the airport including Rideshare and Taxi services as well as the new Airport Central Train Station.

“You can also pre-book parking online to take full advantage of the savings on offer within some of our Long Term car parks.

“Our passenger numbers have been growing steadily since the pandemic, so we are also investing in new infrastructure such as our first multi-storey car park which is currently being built outside of Terminal 1 in the current Short Term Car park.

“We know that these construction works right at T1’s front door will cause impacts to travellers, but we promise it will be worth it when the multi storey car park is completed. While Short-term car parking capacity has been reduced more capacity has been opened in our new Long-Term L.

“Check-in counters will be busy too, so we’d suggest arriving 90 minutes before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight.

“The safety and security of passengers and workers is the highest priority at Perth Airport so

security screening can’t be compromised. Passengers should think about what they are packing in their carry-on luggage to help avoid delays at the screening points.

“Make sure you pack any gifts that may be picked up in security screening in your checked in luggage – this could be soccer balls or NERF guns.

“With all this activity, travel can be a stressful experience, so we ask passengers to treat airport and airline workers with courtesy and respect.

“Remember our team and our airline partners are working hard to get you where you need to go quickly and safely. No one working over the busy holiday period should experience abusive or aggressive behaviour,” said Ms Holsgrove.
