Paris flight gives passengers a long jump to the 2024 Olympics

29 October, 2023
Perth Airport has welcomed today’s announcement that Qantas will commence operating a non-stop service between Perth and Paris in July 2024.

The new service will take off in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games.

Qantas will initially operate the new service four times a week on the airline’s state-of-the-art Dreamliner 787 aircraft.

Perth Airport Acting Chief Executive Officer Kate Holsgrove said this news is great for travellers wanting to fly direct to their holiday destination in Europe.

“Perth has become become the gateway to Australia for European flights with now three direct connections to the UK and Europe.

“These direct services have incredible economic value to the Perth and Western Australian economy in terms of local jobs and visitor spend. And with Rome and London already some of the busiest and most successful services for Qantas we know that this new route will be extremely popular.”

The Perth-Paris service comes as Perth Airport welcomes back the ANA Perth-Tokyo routes for the first time since the Covid pandemic and is set to launch two new direct services to Ho Chi Minh City by VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines.

The Paris service will initially operate out of Perth Airport’s Terminal 3 – where Qantas currently operate their London, Rome and Singapore services from.

Ms Holsgrove said Perth Airport and Qantas remain in discussions to resolve a number of commercial issues, including a move of all Qantas flights to the Airport Central precinct (T1).

“These discussions are complex and complicated and while significant progress has already been made, it may still take some time to finally resolve it.

“Consolidation into Airport Central will provide seamless connections between domestic and international services for all our airline partners, including Qantas.

“It is vital to the Western Australia’s prosperity that Perth Airport continues to grow and enhance our capacity and flexibility which allows our airline partners to grow their businesses which in turn helps the Western Australian economy grow.”
