Perth Airport appoints new Chief Planning and Projects Officer
Mr Moreland has more than 20 years’ experience in leadership roles in the infrastructure delivery sector in Australia and internationally, including the past 10 years in senior roles working for international airports.
As Head of Development, Delivery & ORAT at Dubai Airports, Mr Moreland established the Program Office to accelerate the investment of US$1.5 billion in the Dubai World Central Airport, doubling the airport’s footprint and increasing its capacity to 27 million p.a.
This work involved planning and delivering roads, parking, terminal facilities, baggage handling, special airport systems, concourses, and gate infrastructure – all within a live operating airport precinct.
More recently, he has been Head of International Ventures & Passenger Experience at Abu Dhabi Airports, leading technical, financial, legal, and commercial due diligence for global investment activities in addition to leading the refresh of Abu Dhabi’s ambitious Passenger Experience offering in preparation for the launch of their new 45 million passenger p.a. midfield terminal.
Acting CEO Kate Holsgrove says Mr Moreland will play a crucial role in delivering Perth Airport’s Master Plan objectives.
“Steve will work with and lead our team of dedicated planning and project delivery experts as we design and deliver our next wave of investment.”
“Our Master Plan includes a $1 billion parallel runway project, new terminal facilities in Airport Central, two multi-storey carparks and associated roadworks, and our first airport hotel.
“We also have a property portfolio with a large bank of developable land which is already in high demand.
“Steve’s experience of bringing multi-disciplinary teams together to seamlessly deliver multiple interdependent projects will be invaluable,” Ms Holsgrove continued.
Mr Moreland said that the development vision for Perth Airport will transform the airport.
“It’s an exciting time to be joining Perth Airport with some tremendous development plans focussed on the next evolution of air travel and to further consolidate Perth’s place as a leading airport in the Australian region,” Mr Moreland said.
“We have an amazing opportunity to both deliver great value for our shareholders and our airline partners and, also, for the people of Western Australia and visitors to the State through the enhancement of the airport’s facilities and experiences.
“A large amount of impressive work has already been done to prepare for this next wave of development, so I’ll be looking to build on that strong foundation.
“I can’t wait to meet the Perth Airport team and our key customers and stakeholders and quickly get down to working with them to deliver our future airport.”
Mr Moreland will commence his new role on 23 October 23.
