Cathay Pacific upgrades to A350-1000 on Perth service

27 October, 2019
Western Australia has scored another business, trade and tourism win with Cathay Pacific upgrading to its new A350-1000 aircraft for its daily Perth service over the Northern Winter 2019/20 season from 27 October 2019 to 28 March 2020.

The A350-1000 (334 seats) will replace the current A350-900 (280 seats) on the airline’s daily CX170/171 service, adding 108 additional seats per day.Perth Airport Chief Corporate Services Officer Debra Blaskett said the upgrade reaffirms Cathay Pacific’s commitment to Western Australia as a destination.

“Last year, visitor arrivals from Hong Kong were up 4.6 per cent and more than 80,000 passengers travelled on the route. Those visitors from Hong Kong injected $97 million into the Western Australian economy last year.

“Today’s upgrade will help to ensure these figures keep rising thanks to the high level of comfort enjoyed on the A350-1000,” Ms Blaskett said.

The aircraft has a total of 334 seats including 46 Business Class (flat-bed) seats, 32 Premium Economy Class and 256 Economy Class seats, offering passengers the latest in in-flight entertainment and a superior cabin experience.

With the airline flying to more than 100 destinations across the globe, Ms Blaskett said it provides easy access to Perth via its hub in Hong Kong.

“Cathay Pacific has excellent connections throughout North Asia including mainland China, South Korea and Japan, as well as to North America offering Western Australians a number of easily accessible travel destinations,” she said.

Fresh produce, business and leisure tourism are all key export focus areas that Perth Airport is committed to supporting through enhancing existing services and establishing new and improved airline partnerships.
