AirAsia’s new Lombok service off to a flying start

09 June, 2019
Perth Airport has welcomed the first flights between Lombok and Perth on AirAsia’s new service.

Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer Kevin Brown said the new service consolidated the airline’s position in the Perth market by adding more than 74,000 seats annually.

“AirAsia has been in the vanguard of a low-cost carrier revolution that has delivered more affordable and accessible travel options for many Western Australians,” Mr Brown said.

“Western Australians have a great propensity for travel and Indonesia represents Perth Airport’s largest outbound market as it offers an easily accessible and attractive destination for travellers,” Mr Brown said.

“This new service also provides an opportunity to grow the Indonesian inbound tourism market for Perth and Western Australia.

“Indonesia is currently Western Australia’s eighth largest visitor market and just last year, we welcomed 31,000 Indonesian visitors, injecting more than $56 million into the WA economy,” Mr Brown said.

The Perth-Lombok service runs four times per week on an Airbus A320 aircraft.

The outbound flight, QZ471, will depart Perth at 7.30pm for an 11.25pm arrival in Lombok. The return QZ470 leaves Lombok mid-afternoon for a 6.40pm landing in the West Australian capital.
