Singapore Airlines Dreamliner 787-10 touches down in Perth
Singapore Airlines is the first to fly the newest Dreamliner, the Boeing 787-10 aircraft, and Perth is the second destination in the world, after Osaka, to welcome its arrival.
The aircraft will arrive at Perth Airport for the first time today and Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown says the decision is another vote of confidence in Western Australia’s tourism sector.
“It’s fantastic that Perth Airport has been chosen as the first Australian destination for these new aircraft,” Mr Brown said.
“Singapore Airlines has a long and proud record of linking Perth with Singapore – a relationship which has delivered benefits for more than 50 years.
“Our partnership with Singapore Airlines has seen Singapore become Western Australia’s third biggest international visitor market, injecting $220 million into the WA economy in visitor expenditure alone last year,” Mr Brown said.
The use of the Boeing 787-10 will add an additional 38,000 seats to Singapore Airlines’ Perth-Singapore route.“Singapore Airlines has a reputation for quality service and this new aircraft delivers another step up in passenger comfort,” Mr Brown said.
“It’s going to boost Perth’s profile in our region and build even more momentum for WA to be the destination of choice for tourists from Asia – a potential market of more than four billion people.
“With so many new attractions to offer our visitors in Perth and Western Australia, we’re confident that new visitors will enjoy their stay and those returning will be pleasantly surprised at the changes that have taken place,” he said.
