Local schools bring Christmas cheer to Perth Airport
25 November, 2015
Perth Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) is glittering with Christmas trees adorned with hand-made decorations made by students from five local primary schools – Ardross, Bayswater, Belmont, Guildford and Kewdale.
Perth Airport Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs and Organisation Development, Fiona Lander said the annual Perth Airport Christmas Tree decorating competition, now in its seventh year, involves students producing their own decorations in art class and bringing them to the airport to decorate trees.
"The competition provides a great opportunity for local students to get involved in a community project that contributes to the festive season and provides a bit of Christmas cheer for travellers,” Ms Lander said.
“We were pleased to welcome the groups of students to T3 and hope they enjoyed making their Christmas creations just as much as passengers and visitors to the airport will enjoy viewing the beautiful trees.”
The trees will be on display on level one in the Departures Lounge at T3. Members of the public, passengers and staff can vote for their favourite tree by completing an entry form and placing it in the ballot box near the trees.
Voting closes on Wednesday 16 December 2015 at 4.00pm, and the winning school will be notified and presented with a cheque for $1,000 to spend on art and craft supplies in 2016.
The trees will remain on display until early January 2016.
